Best suited for
This approach is particularly suited for regions facing multiple climate challenges linked to coastal erosion, sea-level rise and flooding, and aiming to address climate action holistically through integrated mitigation and adaptation measures.
Stakeholders' role
The model relies on collaborative, multilevel governance, bringing together regional governments, municipal authorities, EU Mission coordination, citizens and stakeholders, along with researchers and academia to ensure both strategic alignment and effective implementation.
Built-in scalable tools
Collaboration across public and private stakeholders is a key enabler of scalability. The technical assistance provided through the Mission supports the alignment of demonstrator projects with long-term resilience goals and helps identify high-impact interventions that can be replicated in other contexts.
Funding pathways
The approach is supported by a combination of regional and EU funding. A dedicated budget through the regional authority Ihobe for research and innovation is complemented by EU funding to implement demonstrators and interventions that strengthen climate resilience.
