Germany, with a varied climate ranging from maritime conditions in the north to continental influences in the east and Alpine environments in the south, is advancing climate resilience through strong engagement in the Mission. A total of 26 local and regional authorities are participating in Mission Projects, supported by 20 Charter Signatories (regions/local authorities that have signed the Mission Charter and committed to striving toward climate resilience by 2030), and €42.69 million in EU funding has been allocated.

AdaptationHubs boosts coordination on climate adaptation, while helping national and local governments to share solutions and strengthen their approaches to managing climate risks.
Germany has a well-established and legally anchored adaptation governance framework, embedded in long-standing policy processes and supported by strong scientific capacity. The national policy framework is anchored in the Deutsche Anpassungsstrategie an den Klimawandel 2024 (DAS 2024), adopted by the Federal Cabinet in December 2024.

Visit the Germany Climate Adaptation Platform (CAP)
Climate Adaptation Platforms (CAPs) are national, regional, and local web-based hubs offering datasets, evidence-based information, tools, and case studies to drive climate resilience.
They contribute directly to the Mission by providing access to national, regional, and local climate datasets, evidence-based information and guidance, as well as practical tools and case studies to support adaptation action. Each CAP is tailored to the country, region or community that it serves to support the design and implementation of adaptation strategies and plans.
Many CAPs foster peer-to-peer learning. They also act as gateways for regional and local authorities to engage with wider initiatives and, thereby, align their actions with national and EU priorities.

A heat-aware navigation app helps citizens and visitors find cooler routes during extreme heat. Using near-real-time data and modelling, it supports at-risk groups, maintains mobility, and can be scaled to other cities.
