MIP4Adapt Event | Private sector best practices for climate-resilient infrastructure: key insights for regional and local authorities

As climate risks intensify, regional and local authorities face increasing pressure to protect, upgrade, and redesign infrastructure systems to withstand climate impacts, which is essential in safeguarding communities, maintaining essential services, and minimising future economic losses. Delivering this transition will require investment, technical expertise, and innovative solutions from both the public and private sectors.

This online event, organised under the EU Mission on Adaptation, will bring together regional and local authorities (RLAs) and private sector actors to explore concrete approaches to making infrastructure climate-resilient. This session will focus on:  

• How climate risk is integrated into infrastructural planning 
• Risk, insurance and financing of infrastructure projects to improve investment readiness 
• Private sector solutions, tools and services that can support climate-resilient infrastructure development and delivery 

The session will share key insights from international discussions on infrastructure resilience. It will also feature perspectives on infrastructure risk, insurance, and finance to support investment readiness, alongside practical solutions, tools, and services designed to help regional and local authorities integrate climate resilience into infrastructure planning and delivery.

For regional and local authorities, the event will provide an opportunity to learn about how best to design and deliver bankable adaptation projects and gain insights into private sector solutions and best practices.  

For private sector participants, the event offers an opportunity to engage directly with RLAs and hear about the infrastructure challenges they are facing and about opportunities to build partnerships and exchange collaborative ideas on the future of climate-resilient infrastructure in Europe.
