From Rumour to Resilience: Preventing Misinformation in Climate Change Response

In this session, participants will first explore the critical distinction between misinformation and disinformation through two presentations. This opening will establish the practitioners' challenges and the scientific evidence as a foundation for trust and illustrate how false narratives physically endanger lives during extreme weather events.

The session then shifts to an Expert Round Table titled "Breaking barriers: Systemic solutions for truth in climate adaptation." Through this dialogue and audience Q&A, the group will identify the challenges posed by crises and outline collaborative best practices for managing misinformation and strengthening disaster risk management in the context of climate change.
