Shaping European Standards for Climate Services in the Renewable Energy Sector

Climateurope2 (CE2) is developing recommendations to support the European standardisation of climate services. As part of CE2 activities, BSC and DNV are convening a workshop on 22 – 23 October 2026 in Oslo, Norway. The workshop will bring together key operational climate service actors from the renewable energy sector, including both providers and users.

This workshop offers an important platform for European actors involved in providing and using climate services for renewable energy systems and related infrastructure to connect, exchange perspectives, and reflect jointly on current developments. Participants can expect the following key outcomes:

• Information on the European Commission’s standardisation request to CEN and CENELEC, and the status of ongoing standards development. 
• Dialogue to strengthen shared understanding, foster collaboration, and support alignment with ongoing standardisation efforts across Europe.
• Exchange of experiences, challenges, and recommendations regarding the use of climate services in energy systems planning, operations, and maintenance.
• Opportunity to provide insights and priorities to support CE2’s contribution to the ongoing climate services standardisation process.
   

This event aims to produce a statement with recommendations to inform the ongoing European standardisation process and contribute sectoral perspectives to CEN and CENELEC.
